Caroline Bishop, Managing Director

Following an early career with the NHS, Caroline spent 20 years at the University of Birmingham where she took on a variety of progressively influential roles. Highlights of her career include setting up an MBA programme in Hong Kong, and developing and implementing a £2 million, five-university partnership across the East and West Midlands to provide training in technology transfer to medical students. Caroline was particularly influential in the development of IXC UK, securing £3.6 million of grant funding to set up the initial pilot project. Guiding IXC UK through its early years, she oversaw its spin-out from the University of Birmingham as a limited by guarantee company, and continues to drive the company as Managing Director.

Clive Boast, Company Secretary

Clive is an experienced and hands-on finance professional with broad-based experience gained in commercially-focused engineering services and multi-site manufacturing environments. A Chartered Accountant, he was Group Finance Director of Dowding & Mills plc until December 2000, after which he decided to use his extensive skills and experience to help other businesses develop and prosper. Since leaving industry, Clive has worked for Advantage West Midlands and was formerly a Special Advisor to the Manufacturing Foundation. He previously also promoted the interests of manufacturing through work with the Central Technology Belt and West Midlands Industry Foundation.

Russ Noble, Business Development Director

In his Business Development role at IXC, Russ is engaged in assisting a range of businesses (SME to Corporate) across diverse markets including transport, healthcare and industrial with their innovation activities and strategy. This includes identifying opportunities for introducing innovative technologies into a business’s product portfolio and connecting to & delivering sources of innovation from a broad technology supply field. Having led a Sensor Technology-based business group and the BD activity as part of a Joint Venture in a large Defence corporate Russ has experience in commercial exploitation of technology utilising a range of business models including technology transfer, licensing, sale of IP & technical capability.

Dr James Elliott, Director of Delivery and Quality

With an entire career to date focusing on innovation, science, and collaboration, Dr James Elliott is responsible for the management of IXC’s services to ensure high standards and efficiency. A founding member of both the University of Birmingham Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre and IXC, Jamie adeptly synergises the fast pace of IXC’s cutting edge, high technology clients’ timescales, with identification and allocation of the perfect innovation associates, intermediaries and researchers for the task. MBA and PhD qualified, Jamie is also responsible for the overall security of the Company’s information systems- a critical role as IXC is the trusted innovation partner for clients and party to numerous confidentiality agreements and confidential information.

Manjit Jutlla, Operations Manager

Manjit is Operations Manager for IXC UK Ltd and is responsible for Client Management of our technological innovation services, and the HR and Personnel Systems for our innovation consultants, intermediaries and researchers. Manjit manages the entire spectrum of IXC Client contracts and finance – from those using short projects (such as Technology Watch, Technology Scouting, Partner Search or Innovation Audits) to embedded innovation intermediary contracts, and serving technologically-focussed clients from SMEs to household name clients such as Cadbury, Jaguar Land Rover, Mars, Network Rail, and Smith & Nephew. Her overseeing of performance, processes and procedures ensures continuous improvements and change implementation to ensure the ongoing success of innovative technology research here at InnovationXchange (IXC).
